ёThis is one of my illustrations for a book called "Edgar Allan Poe alphabet". It was a study task to make an alphabet of something (I study book graphics and illustration, so the result of this task would be a whole book with text, pictures, etc) and I've decided to choose my favourite author. The original alphabet is in Russian, so it sometimes do not fit the English one, that is why some letters will be unused or used more than once. I'm still working on it, thinking of how to make a cover and really enjoing reading his poems and novels again.
"...An individual has committed the murder. He is alone with the ghost of the departed. He is appalled by what lies motionless before him. The fury of his passion is over, and there is abundant room in his heart for the natural awe of the deed. His is none of that confidence which the presence of numbers inevitably inspires. He is alone with the dead. He trembles and is bewildered. Yet there is a necessity for disposing of the corpse. He bears it to the river, and leaves behind him the other evidences of his guilt; for it is difficult, if not impossible to carry all the burthen at once, and it will be easy to return for what is left. But in his toilsome journey to the water his fears redouble within him. The sounds of life encompass his path. A dozen times he hears or fancies he hears the step of an observer. Even the very lights from the city bewilder him. Yet, in time, and by long and frequent pauses of deep agony, he reaches the river's brink, and disposes of his ghastly charge- perhaps through the medium of a boat. But now what treasure does the world hold- what threat of vengeance could it hold out- which would have power to urge the return of that lonely murderer over that toilsome and perilous path, to the thicket and its blood-chilling recollections?.."

Одна из моих иллюстраций к книге "Азбука Эдгара Аллана По". Это задание по учебе, суть в том чтобы сделать азбуку чего-либо, и я выбрала в качестве темы творчество любимого писателя и поэта (учусь на графике и книжной иллюстрации, так что в итоге из этого получится целая книга с текстом, картинками и так далее). Изначально взят русский алфавит и он где-то не совпадает с английским, поэтому некоторые буквы будут использованы больше одного раза или не использованы совсем.
"...Человек совершил убийство. Он стоит
один перед трупом своей жертвы. Он испытывает глубокий ужас, глядя на
неподвижное тело. Бурная вспышка страстей угасла, и его сердцем овладевает
естественный страх перед содеянным. Его не подбадривает присутствие
сообщников. Он здесь один с убитой. Он трепещет и не знает, как поступить.
Но труп необходимо как-то скрыть. Он тащит мертвое тело к реке и оставляет в
чаще другие свидетельства своей вины, так как унести все сразу было бы очень
трудно или даже вообще невозможно, но он полагает, что вернуться за
остальным будет легко. Однако, пока он пробирается к реке, его страх
удесятеряется. Со всех сторон до него доносятся звуки, свидетельствующие о
близости людей. Много раз он слышит - или ему чудится, что он слышит, - шаги
непрошеного свидетеля. Даже огни города пугают его. Но вот после долгих,
исполненных ужаса остановок он достигает реки и избавляется от своей жуткой
ноши - быть может, воспользовавшись для этого лодкой. Но какой страх перед
воздаянием может понудить одинокого убийцу вернуться теперь по трудной и
опасной тропе в чащу, полную ужасных воспоминаний?.."
